FAZBEAR'S FRIGHT: TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction! Interested in the game but not sure if your character would fit in the setting? Then this meme is for you! Hell, bring in anyone you want, even if you don't plan on applying. Everybody's thought at some point what they would do in frightening situations - they just happen to involve murderous robots in this case. When making a top level with your character, make sure to include their full name and canon in the subject line, and whether they are original canon or AU or what have you. Keep the setting in mind for writing prompts, and have fun!

Area 1
Anise is pretty far out of her element. Battlefields, dens of monsters, the impending destruction of a planet? Bring it on, she's seen it before. She can deal. A creepy building full of killer machines that look like animals, without her artes or weapon? That's a hell of a lot harder to work a way out of. ...Actually, the 'animatronics' kind of remind her of Tokunaga (who, by the way, she isn't happy about not being able to enlarge at the moment). Maybe they're being controlled in a similar way?

Well, whatever! She's got better things to do than wander around here forever. She's just....got to not jump at every little noise. She's a soldier. She can keep her cool.

Kitchen Area 2
It's not what she's used to. Then again, 'what she's used to' is anything from the kitchen in the Daath Cathedral to a campfire and river... So she's not familiar with all of the appliances here, so what. She can adapt. The issue is more the ingredients she has to work with... And she thought some of the things she had to work with on the go were sketchy.

"Hm... Do we really need to survive on more of this stuff?" It tastes awful, and she's pretty sure it's the opposite of nutritious. They'll need better than this pizza and cake to get through this... "If we find some ingredients, I could make better pizza and cake than this."

[Well, hopefully you don't mind someone up and scurrying out of one of the vents! Note to self; do not piss off the purple bunny. She's surprised that she even managed to navigate through there and lose the damn thing, but she doesn't see Anise very well up ahead--so hopefully you don't mind getting flashed with a light for a couple of brief seconds, before--]

E-EEECK!

[...Give her a couple seconds to recover from that, but uh. Congrats, you just managed to be more scary than an animatronic for a brief moment!]

[What's that banging? Is it getting louder? ...It's definitely getting louder. Anise is on-guard, ready to bolt the moment that big unfriendly doll shows which way it's coming from--

She is not expecting rapidly flashing lights. She throws an arm in front of her eyes and shrieks. It cuts off in a choke as the smart part of her kicks in - can't scream, gotta be stealthy, not!Tokunagas will eat us.

And now she hisses at the other girl.] Quiet! Come on, we gotta go before they look for who screamed!

[Okay, good, the one in front of her is a human. That...is good.

What isn't good is that yeah, if anything's on this floor, it's gonna be looking now, so--]

I'm sorry, I got scared-- [Either way, she's gonna get up and start hauling ass. Lead the way, Anise! Because hell knows where Dawn is going at this point.]

I noticed! [She doesn't mean to snap, she's just...stressed. Yeah. Not scared! This is just weird and stressful.

No one direction is going to be much better than any other at this point, but Anise thinks she remembers where the stairs she came down are. Better to make a beeline for safety and wait out the danger than try to make progress and run right into death, right?]

Whatever you were running from is gonna be right on top of us!

[Oh, she knows she deserves it--it kinda stings, but dammit, she shouldn't have gotten so scared herself!

She still follows along, but when Anise says that...well, if she could see her face right now, it's just shifted to horror.]

No, no way--I don't want to see it again..! Once was enough!

Well you just told it exactly where you went! Was it coming through the vents? [If it was, maybe they should go back through the vents to slip by it...next time they find one.

And fast, too, there's that weird....static-y sound coming from the room ahead. She yanks Dawn around a corner toward a different door. Don't wanna run into the Mangle.]

I-I couldn't hear it, I thought I lost it when I went in and-- [Oh Arceus no. Oh Arceus, no. That static would've caused Dawn to freeze up then and there if Anise weren't leading her along.

She's fallen silent, however, clutching a plush she's got tied to the other end of her scarf and running like hell.]

[The rush of adrenaline comes with three responses: fight, flight, freeze. Anise is a soldier, trained for battle. Trained for war. Trained to protect the most important religious figure on Auldrant. There isn't time for 'freeze', there never is. In the heat of the moment, all actions must be decisive and automatic.

At least they get warning with the Mangle. And hey, Dawn, she's not gonna judge you for the plushie - she still has Tokunaga hanging off her shoulders, after all. She knows how much comfort it can be to just have something.]

Do you remember the path you took through the vents? We need to make it to a stairwell...

I...

[Dawn tries to remember--tracing back the events a little; she was wandering around...she thinks she was in a kitchen before hand, and she'd gone to a floor below--that's when she saw it. Thinking about it...]

Right vent...right, right, left...maybe right...? [Talking to herself, don't mind her.]

Two rights, a left, and...I think a right. I...I'm pretty sure of it. [She doesn't know entirely--her faltering voice might demonstrate that. She was too busy rushing--she wouldn't be surprised if the Mangle heard that, or anything else did.]

[She keeps running even as she thinks. They've made a left since then, so... The stairs are probably not too far. If they can find some vents, they can cut through them, provided they move quietly - the banging is good for knowing when an animatronic is coming, but also pretty good for telling them where you are.]

Alright. Deep breaths, okay? I think I know where the stairs we took to this floor are. [They just have to keep moving and quietly. The Mangle's buzzing is getting quieter behind them. If they keep up this pace, they should be able to lose it.]

[Well, she'll at least take Anise's advice--if Anise knows what she's doing, then they're bound to get out of this with everything intact. Dawn's willing to put her faith in her, at the very least.]

Okay...okay. [At least Dawn's voice isn't wavering as bad! Progress. Still, a part of her can't help but feel a little embarrassed...she'll probably need a few moments when they get to a safe spot.]

[She might be acting stronger and more in control than she actually feels. Just a little. Dawn seems to need someone to follow right now, and maybe if Anise works at it even she will start to believe her own bravado.]

We'll get out of here eventually. These things aren't that scary!

[...That is very, very true. She couldn't trust herself to lead, after all, so someone far more competent behind the wheel is always welcome.]

Y-yeah. That'll show them, once we're outta here...

[...She doesn't sound completely confident, but she at least believes her words? Somewhat?

Though, it's starting to become a little apparent that one of Dawn's feet might be making more sound than the other--take a guess who lost a boot in the vent? She might try to lose the other one, in the hall, too; it makes a lot less sound...]

[Whether or not Anise can live up to that remains to be seen, but she'll try. Even if on some level she kind of thinks she shouldn't survive this, she's got a goal to pursue now and she won't just up and die before she gets a chance at it. She'll go down fighting or not at all.]

...Did you lose a shoe?

[Actually, losing her own shoes might be a good idea, she hasn't noticed anything especially dangerous on the ground and stocking feet have to be quieter than bare or shod.]

In the vent, yes.

[...Technically she didn't do it on purpose; the shoe was loose in the vent itself, and she lost it before she came out and flashed Anise in the face.

Hopefully it doesn't come back just because of that, but maybe it'd be good if she lost her other shoe when it was safe...]
